Notes and Annotations

  1. Shashton, more commonly known as Shastan or Shastun, was an important fort in the Dizak district, held at this time by the Barakzays under Bahram Khan. Shaston would later develop into the modern-day city of Saravan.
  2. Ashar and Afshan are two small forts that were administratively part of the Irafshan sub-district, but for some reason have been separated in this report.
